indesign class activity

Image
Today in class we utilized Adobe Indesign to lay out our 2 page spread. I liked using Indesign because it was fun to use the different tools that publisher didn't have. I was comfortable using Indesign it wasn't hard to use at all. Also, I liked using Indesign because you have every tool to fix the revisions i need to make like lightening photos and making evenly spaced columns for my article. Once I was shown where everything was in the editing software i learned easily how to manage. I will be using Indesign to finish up my project and make my 3rd quarter revisions.

My target audience

My sports magazine will target women athletes who are hardworking. It mostly will target young high school athletes because the magazine is about girls sports in high school. The area of where we will target is in Sarasota county because Sarasota sailors play other teams in Sarasota county so the other schools might be interested in reading about the teams. For my magazine the personal interest would be soccer, and girl soccer players might be interested in reading about the soccer team. Also, it could target some college coaches if they are looking to come watch and possibly recruit and girl athlete. The item that will be most appealing is the cover photo which shows the uniform and a player who is happy to be playing high school soccer. Also, all the action shots can appeal the readers because they are cool pictures if the varsity girls soccer team.

feedback and revisions

The feedback that I got back from my teacher was mostly just placement of words and the lighting of pictures. The speech bubble at the bottom of my front page needs to be moved so its not blocking the soccer player on my front page. This will improve the front page because it will give a clear full photo on the front page. Another thing that i will be revising is the lighting of the photos on my three other pages. This will improve my magazine by making the photos clearer to see and not so dark and shadowed. I will fix this on Photoshop to lighten the photos. Also, I need to move the photos so they are positioned differently so they take up more room. I will do this by enlarging the photos and moving to the top to take up room and give it a different layout. Lastly, I need to change the backgrounds to white on the article pages and on the table of contents page I will change it to the orange watercolor like my other group members.

use of conventions

My magazine follows the conventions of a sports magazine because I used the same style on the front page by having the picture behind the title. Also all my photos are mostly action photos or a picture of the equipment. Another example of how my magazine is conventional is that my article is in columns. The social group that my magazine represents is female athletes because my magazine is about women's soccer. In my group everyone is doing a different female sport.
